Margaret and Jeff make a great team
This will be the last hurrah in what has been my longest season yet: Collegiate nationals in mid April to Clearwater 70.3 World Championships, now seven months later! Triathlon has been one of the only constants in my life during 2009. I graduated from Bucknell University in May and moved out on my own to start a "real world" job in Baltimore. With all of this in the midst of trying to achieve athletic goals, I have certainly had my hands full. It has been a great season nonetheless.

Jeff worked closely with Coach Dave Slavinski, and ran to a PR
I was lucky to qualify for Clearwater early this summer at Eagleman. Eagleman was a good race, but not the end of the story. It taught me that my goals were in reach. I look back at the Rhode Island 70.3 as my best race and PR at 4:35. That race taught me that staying relaxed and holding no expectations often brings the best results. The hills and scenery at Timberman 70.3 was a great day for me too. I probably enjoyed that race more than any other half Ironman. Saturday will test my ability to take these lessons and apply them to the most important physical test of the season.
BPC has given me a lot of support and it has been great to be apart of the team. Dave has been guiding my training since Janurary 1st this year and has continually pushed my limits. I owe a lot to him for my improved run speed and bike power, but those have not come without plenty of breakthrough workouts. Twenty minute intervals on the bike have recently been a weekly occurrence, and mile repeats and tempo runs have been doled out relentlessly. While I do not live anywhere near the shore, JSTC has still provided me with great experiences at races and has still made me feel apart of the community. I owe great thanks to my girlfriend, Margaret Hartman, my parents, and my coaches for unending support this season and always.

BPC Triathlon is casting a long shadow of late, and Jeff's a big part of it.
It is great to know I will have so many people tracking my progress and cheering me on. I think about it at every timing mat. I can't wait to go fast on Saturday!
