Here’s my look back at the 2009 season

If you want something in life you have to work hard, there is no luck….hang on a second while I check my lottery tickets… J

OK… anyway I never really take time off, so to change it up I do a lot of my winter running on the beach or on the trails usually 5 or 6 days a week, I keep at least one track workout or tempo run once a week.  I also do most of my winter cycling on the mountain bike usually 3 or 4 days a week (one of these days, usually Sunday is totally dedicated to wheelies and riding backwards you never know when this will come up in a race so I’m playing it safe)

The racing season started in March with the St. Patty’s day 10miler/ keg party it was an awesome party, I mean race, went 58:28 had lots of post race J (I’m Irish!!)

Next up was the Jersey Shore Marathon Relay in April ,which our team won, I think our time was around 2:20 something. The team was Dave Slavinski, Brian Shea, Joe Rooney and Myself,  we only had 4 people instead of 5 so Dave and I both ran 2 legs, we really only wanted to run half a leg each, but nobody wanted to be on our team so we are looking for volunteers to run and win next year so we can take the credit for your hard work J (this is a really fun race so if you get a chance make sure you do it!!)

In May I ran the Bay Head 5k in 17:10  followed by the Spring Lake 5 in 28:34 so that is pretty much how I started my triathlon season no tri’s and a bunch of running races, not sure why I’m putting this on a tri website!!

Eagleman 70.3 in June was my season kickoff for triathlon, I had an ok swim and bike and a really good run (must have been all those early season running races)  for a time of 4:25 And that is where I qualified for Clearwater.

Rhode Island 70.3 in July was next again had an ok swim and bike and a good run for a time of 4:30 and got a Kona slot on a rolldown!! (like I said at the start it’s all about luck)

Kona in October was a tough one for me and my credit card J, not much to see or talk about on this one other than I’m not normally a religious person but “if you’re up there save me Superman” J

Moving right along….. I took 5 days off after Kona and got right back to it and ran XC (cross country) if you have never ran the XC series it is a lot a fun and a hell of a workout, you’re guaranteed to bust a lung or hamstring coming out of the bowl at Holmdel!!

So that about wraps up 2009

A few people I gotta thank, My family who put up with me and my BS. Liz, (Pictured left), Emily, Joey, Kathy and the crew from Brielle Cyclery, BPC, JSTC, Chris, Dave, Brian Norling, Ryan Clayton, Tim Horn, Keith, Scott and everyone else who rode and ran with the motley Point Pleasant crew …you guys pushed my lazy ass on tons of rides and runs this year even though you didn’t realize it!!
